The New Horizons Band of Gulfport provides entry points to music making for adults.
This includes individuals with no musical experience as well as those people who were active in school music programs but have been inactive for a long period.
Many adults would like an opportunity to learn music in a group setting like that offered in schools. Data has shown that at least 80 percent of the adult population needs beginning instruction to participate in making music. New Horizons Music programs serve that need.
The New Horizons Music program in Gulfport is inclusive rather than exclusive. Every person has musical potential that can be developed to a level that will be personally rewarding. The policy of our New Horizons Music Program is If you consider yourself to be an adult, you’re eligible.
The New Horizons program does not compete with a traditional community band. Some individuals that start in a New Horizons Band program go on to also join other community bands such as Pasadena, St. Petersburg, and Dunedin bands.
The New Horizons band has become an important part of the cultural life in the Gulfport community, performing in many different settings and local events.
Do you play an instrument or would like to learn? Join us for fun and excitement
